A man in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district was presumed drowned after his clothes and slippers were found near the Gangrel Dam. A search operation involving police and divers was launched. However, 12 days later, it was discovered that the man was alive and hiding in Delhi. The man, identified as Hemant Chandravanshi, fabricated his disappearance to escape debt. He had arrived in Dhamtari with friends on May 24th and stayed at a resort near the dam. On the morning of May 25th, he sent his companions to a nearby shop. Upon their return, they found his belongings but not him, prompting them to alert the police. After an extensive search of the water yielded no results, authorities began investigating the possibility of a staged disappearance. His other phone number was tracked, leading the police to Delhi, where he was located and brought back to Dhamtari. Authorities stated that Chandravanshi was heavily in debt, which motivated him to stage his fake death. Legal action will be taken against him for his actions.
