Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has affirmed the government’s dedication to identifying and fostering sporting talent. The state aims to provide every athlete with opportunities, resources, and platforms commensurate with their effort, dedication, and potential. He extended congratulations and best wishes to Navleen Kaur, a rising archer from Mahasamund district, on securing a place in the upcoming national games. Navleen Kaur from Mahasamund has earned a spot in archery at the National Games, having won a gold medal at the state-level competition.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the government will offer all possible assistance to nurture athletes like Navleen at every level of sports. Navleen, who has faced health challenges since birth, transformed them into her strength and chose sports as her life path. Navleen’s gold medal victory at the state-level competition in February 2025 proved that no obstacle is insurmountable with willpower and hard work.

Navleen Kaur, a resident of Bagbahara in Mahasamund, is the daughter of Arvind and Ranjit Kaur Chhabra. Born in the seventh month of pregnancy, she faced several health issues in her early years. Curiosity about her health from neighbors and relatives sometimes saddened her. However, Navleen embraced this curiosity as a challenge and redirected herself toward a new direction.

In 2018, Navleen began archery training at Bihajhar Balashram, located about five kilometers from Bagbahara. She became Mahasamund district’s first female archer. During her schooling, she secured medals in two state-level competitions and achieved fourth place in a national-level school archery competition. In 2023, she represented Chhattisgarh at the FGFI National Archery Competition held in Gujarat and secured second place in the state-level senior archery competition.

Navleen’s goal is to win a medal while representing India at the international level. She mentioned that the compound bow is used in international competitions, for which her family provided her with a new modern compound bow. She has made a brilliant start by securing the first position in the compound round girls’ category at the City Open Archery Competition. Currently, Navleen is learning the nuances of archery from coach Awan Sahu and sports officer Manoj Dhrtalhare.
