In a gruesome act of violence, Naxals in Peddakorma, Chhattisgarh, have murdered three villagers, including a student. Seven others were brutally beaten and seriously injured in the attack. The incident, allegedly orchestrated by Naxal leader Vella and his team, has instilled fear among the local population.

The deceased, identified as Jhingu Modium, Soma Modium, and Anil Madvi, were recovered by security forces and taken to the district headquarters in Bijapur for post-mortem examinations. The bodies were later handed over to their families, and a case will be filed against the Naxals based on the families’ statements.

The killings have raised questions about the effectiveness of intelligence operations, especially considering the ongoing efforts to combat Naxalism. The recent deaths of key Naxal leaders in operations have seemingly fueled the insurgents’ desperation, leading them to resort to such acts.

Meanwhile, a major anti-Naxal operation is underway on the Andhra Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border. The Greyhounds, a specialized anti-Naxal force in Andhra Pradesh, have achieved significant success in this operation. Prior to this, the Chhattisgarh’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) eliminated several Naxal leaders in direct confrontations. Reports indicate the recent deaths of Gazrala Ravi, a member of the Andhra Pradesh zonal committee, and Aruna, the wife of the slain Naxal leader Chalapathi, though official confirmation is still pending.
