    A new form of digital fraud has emerged. Users are warned about the WhatsApp Screen Mirroring Fraud, a dangerous scam that is rapidly spreading. Victims of this scam could have their bank accounts emptied within minutes, and their personal information stolen.

    How WhatsApp Screen Mirroring Fraud Works:

    In this fraud, scammers pose as employees of banks or financial companies to gain trust. They then trick users into turning on screen sharing on WhatsApp.

    As soon as screen sharing is enabled:

    * The scammer can view your OTPs, passwords, bank details, and messages live.
    * They may ask you for OTPs or PINs by claiming it’s for “verification” of a transaction.
    * The information goes directly to the scammer, and money is instantly withdrawn from the account.

    Another Method – Malware App & Keyboard Logger:

    In some cases, scammers have the user install a malware app that includes a keyboard logger. This records everything typed into the phone. Because of this, banks provide on-screen keyboards on their websites to prevent loggers from capturing what you type.

    Use of Stolen Information:

    Once the data is obtained, the fraudsters can:

    * Withdraw money from the bank account.
    * Make unauthorized transactions.
    * Use your identity to commit other financial fraud.

    How to Avoid This Fraud?

    * Do not screen share on WhatsApp under any circumstances.
    * Banks will never ask for OTPs or screen sharing on WhatsApp.
    * Avoid installing unknown apps or links.
    * Always keep your phone and banking apps updated.
