In Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, the murder of a temple priest sent shockwaves through the community. Police have solved the mystery, revealing a case of illicit affairs and revenge. The priest, Jageshwar Pathak, was involved in an affair with a married woman. The woman’s husband orchestrated the murder. The police arrested the husband and four others, including a minor. The priest was lured under the guise of performing a ritual, then attacked with a suspension pipe, resulting in his death. The incident occurred on August 31st. The priest’s body was discovered in the morning at the Path Baba temple complex, in the Takhatpur police station area, covered in blood. Injuries to the head were evident. Upon receiving the report, the police, dog squad, and FSL team arrived at the scene. Bilaspur SSP Rajnesh Singh also visited the site. Based on statements from family and acquaintances, the police investigated all angles. They uncovered the priest’s affair, leading to the detention of suspects, and the eventual revelation of the crime. Police apprehended Suresh, Hemkumar, Dhanraj, Mukesh, and a minor.

The police swiftly arrested the perpetrators within 24 hours, quelling the fear that gripped the area. The investigation revealed that the accused, Suresh, sought revenge for the priest’s affair with his wife. The illicit relationship developed during farming activities near the temple. The husband’s anger stemmed from the affair. According to the police, Suresh and his wife had a social divorce six months prior. Suresh, fueled by resentment, planned the murder. On Saturday night, he and his accomplices lured the priest under the pretext of performing a motorcycle ritual. They then attacked him with a brick and suspension pipe, killing him before fleeing. Following the investigation, police arrested five individuals, including a minor. Further legal proceedings are underway.
