The Chhattisgarh government has modified the subsidy limits under its half-electricity bill scheme. The revision replaces the previous provision of a discount on 400 units of electricity consumption per month with a 50% rebate on monthly consumption up to 100 units. The government has stated that approximately 31 lakh families, constituting around 70% of the state’s 45 lakh domestic consumers, consume no more than 100 units monthly.

Despite the revision, the Chhattisgarh government assures that these 31 lakh families, including both general and economically weaker sections, will continue to benefit from the scheme as before. Approximately 70% of domestic consumers in the state will continue to receive the benefits of the half-electricity bill scheme. The state government is committed to providing relief to low-income families on their electricity expenses.
