In a heartbreaking event in Raipur, an elderly resident identified as Rajkumar Gupta died after a fire broke out in his home in the Tatibandh locality. The fire, which reportedly started due to a short circuit in a room heater, trapped the septuagenarian inside. Despite the best efforts of neighbors who heard his cries, the locked front gate proved to be a fatal obstacle, preventing any immediate rescue. The local Amanaka police have registered the case and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

Details reveal that the victim’s son had locked the house from the outside as he left for his morning shift at a mill. The father had expressed a desire not to leave the house because of the chilly weather. The rest of the family was visiting a religious site in Maihar. Witness accounts suggest that the fire department’s response was delayed, arriving an hour and a half after the fire was first reported. The community is in mourning over the preventable loss of life.
