A tragic incident has occurred in the Jagdalpur district, where two young children have died after drowning in a quarry pit. The event took place in the Hazariguda village, under the jurisdiction of the Parpa police station. Upon receiving the news, the SDRF team immediately arrived at the scene to conduct a rescue operation. According to police reports, the deceased children have been identified as Sandeep Nag (5 years old) and Jay Shree (6 years old). After considerable effort, the team recovered the bodies from the water. The bodies were then transported to the Medical College, Jagdalpur, for post-mortem examination. It is understood that the children were playing near the quarry and, due to their inability to gauge the depth, fell into the water. The police are currently investigating the entire matter. This accident brings into focus the safety arrangements at quarries and the neglect of open pits. Local residents have demanded that the quarry be secured to prevent future occurrences of such incidents.
