Preparations for the traditional Shraadh ceremony of Jharkhand’s former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, are underway throughout the village. Chief Minister Hemant Soren personally inspected the preparations for his father, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren’s Shraadh ceremony, driving an e-rickshaw. Following the demise of his father, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been residing in his ancestral village, Nemra, for the past 10 days, performing the Shraadh rituals in the traditional manner.

The Chief Minister toured the entire venue in an e-rickshaw and closely monitored the arrangements in each pandal. He instructed the officials to ensure adequate facilities for the people, including security, cleanliness, drinking water, parking, tents, seating arrangements, and toilets. He also directed that the traffic management should be such that no one faces any inconvenience. The Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, senior officials of the district administration, officials from various departments, and the people of Nemra village were present on this occasion.

From the village streets to the place of worship, decorations, cleaning, and arrangements are in full swing. Preparations for this important event are being made in accordance with traditional rituals and local customs with the cooperation of family members, relatives, and villagers from far and wide. To facilitate the people, arrangements for over 300 e-rickshaws will be made from the parking to the venue, so that everyone can easily reach the venue from the parking area. Three large parking lots have been constructed for vehicles.

Bio-toilets have been arranged behind each parking lot. Shaded sheds, rest areas, and separate pagodas have been built on the path for the pedestrians to protect them from the sun and rain. Three large pandals have been erected for the food arrangements where a large number of people can sit and have food together. Local delicacies along with traditional Prasad will be served. A large number of volunteers and a team of cooks will be deployed for cleanliness and smooth service.

A police control room has been established in Dhumkudiya for the safety and traffic control of the people. 10 IPS officers, 60 DSPs, 65 inspectors, and approximately 2500 police personnel will be deployed for security. The district administration will remain fully alert regarding law and order. Teams of police, administration, and volunteers will be continuously active 24 hours a day for traffic management, emergency services, and crowd control.

A special exhibition and memorial gallery are also being prepared to showcase Guruji’s life struggles, political contributions, his role in the upliftment of the tribal community, and the invaluable example of public service during the Shraadh ceremony. Rare photographs, historical documents related to Guruji’s life, and achievements during his tenure will be displayed here.

It is to be noted that on August 4, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha MP, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, passed away at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. On August 5, his middle son, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, performed the last rites in his ancestral village, Nemra. Since then, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, along with his wife and other family members, has been performing all the Shraadh rituals in the traditional manner after the last rites of his father, Dishom Guru. A Shraadh feast will be organized on August 16, where around 2 lakh people are expected to attend, along with the arrangement of helipads for VVIP guests. IPS officers, DSPs, inspectors, and constables, along with a large number of jawans, will be deployed for security.
