In a development milestone for Samastipur district, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar descended on Thursday under his flagship Samriddhi Yatra, showering the region with 188 welfare and infrastructure projects totaling over Rs 827 crore. The announcements, made from the Government Engineering College grounds, signal accelerated growth in education, agriculture, and women’s entrepreneurship.

Kumar activated 71 new projects worth Rs 470 crore via remote foundation laying, inaugurated 74 schemes at Rs 273 crore, and initiated 43 more valued at Rs 84 crore. This multi-pronged approach addresses longstanding needs in connectivity, education, and rural economies.

A key highlight was his tour of the Sarairanjan engineering campus, where classroom interactions revealed his focus on youth skilling. He advised students to master emerging tech for career success, blending paternal guidance with policy vision.

The language lab impressed with its international curriculum, drawing CM’s applause for equipping Bihar’s youth with global communication skills. Stalls showcasing Jivika products stole the show; Kumar not only admired the handmade goods but disbursed Rs 437 crore in aid to over 23,000 self-help group women, calling them ‘pillars of progress’.

Conversations with pension scheme recipients highlighted social security commitments, while the Borlaug Institute demo on multi-cropping and agri-innovations sparked directives for market linkages for small producers. ‘Connect local talent to broader markets,’ he ordered, eyeing economic self-reliance.

On-ground checks at Hakimabad’s bridge and bypass projects prompted firm instructions for timely completion. Attendees included heavyweights like Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary and ministers, underscoring the event’s stature.

Samastipur’s tryst with development under Nitish Kumar paints a picture of holistic advancement, where education meets enterprise, and government resolve fuels grassroots transformation.
