In a fiery critique, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday condemned the Congress party’s recent rally in Rangiya as a stark revelation of internal dysfunction and cultural alienation. The event, he charged, blatantly disregarded state traditions and social norms, highlighting the opposition’s organizational failures.

During a media interaction in Guwahati, Sarma admitted he learned of the rally post-facto through circulating images and clips, which left him appalled. ‘Those visuals screamed disorder rather than the discipline expected in political assemblies,’ he stated bluntly.

Sarma portrayed the mishap as symptomatic of Congress’s broader malaise, accusing it of steadily severing ties with Assam’s cultural decorum. Such lapses, he argued, jeopardize the delicate balance of social cohesion in a diverse state like Assam.

He called for politics grounded in reverence for local customs and collective ethos. ‘Any approach that flouts these foundations risks eroding our unity over time,’ Sarma warned, advocating for electoral strategies that prioritize Assam’s welfare alongside national goals.

The CM rallied citizens to safeguard cultural wholeness through vigilant voting. ‘Responsible electorate choices will define our future,’ he declared.

Adding intrigue, Sarma anticipated an eventual Congress-Raijor Dal pact, crediting the Miya community’s influence. ‘This alliance is inevitable, with the Miya factor sealing the deal,’ he predicted confidently.
