On National Youth Day, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge remembered Swami Vivekananda, wishing the youth strength and inspiration from the sage’s profound wisdom. Observed annually on January 12, the day commemorates Vivekananda’s birth and his enduring legacy.

Kharge’s message comes at a pivotal moment for India’s youth, who form over 65% of the population. He praised Vivekananda as the architect of national awakening, whose ideas on youth power shaped leaders like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and countless freedom fighters.

In his social media post, Kharge quoted Vivekananda: ‘You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.’ He linked this to contemporary issues like unemployment, mental health, and digital revolution, calling for inner strength among the young.

Vivekananda’s global impact began with his electrifying address in Chicago, where he declared, ‘Sisters and brothers of America,’ captivating the audience. Kharge urged the youth to channel this fearless spirit to build an inclusive India free from caste and religious divides.

Across states, vibrant programs mark the day. From Ramakrishna Mission centers to government initiatives, focus remains on skill development and entrepreneurship. Kharge reiterated Congress’s manifesto promises on youth jobs, education loans, and startup ecosystems.

Reflecting on Vivekananda’s mantra of ‘Man-making religion,’ Kharge stressed holistic development. As political narratives heat up ahead of polls, this tribute positions Congress as the party upholding cultural icons for modern progress. Vivekananda’s vision of a youthful, awakened India remains a beacon for the future.
