Fashion influencer Jasmine Jaffar visited the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple in Thrissur, Kerala. She filmed a video of herself washing her feet in the temple pond, which she later shared on social media. This action led to a controversy, with some people criticizing her. The temple administration also opposed her video.
A complaint was filed against Jasmine by the temple administration with the police. The Guruvayur Devaswom stated that Jasmine, a former participant of Big Boss Malayalam Season 6 and a social media influencer, violated temple traditions, thereby polluting the pond. Following the escalating controversy, Jasmine apologized and removed the video from her social media.
Devaswom administrator OB Arun Kumar stated that the pond is sacred and used for rituals like Aarattu. The Devaswom’s complaint alleged the video was filmed where video recording is prohibited by the High Court. Following the incident, temple authorities decided to purify the temple and restricted darshan from 5 am to 12 pm. Entry will be permitted after the purification rituals.
The rituals will be repeated for six days, including 18 poojas and 18 styles. Devotees have been requested to cooperate with the temporary restrictions. Jasmine had created this video six days ago but later removed it and apologized, claiming she was unaware of the restrictions.
