    CP Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the 15th Vice President of India on Friday. The oath of office was administered by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and former Vice Presidents Jagdeep Dhankhar, Venkaiah Naidu, and Hamid Ansari. Radhakrishnan, aged 67, secured victory in the vice presidential election, defeating Opposition candidate B Sudershan Reddy by a margin of 152 votes on September 9th. The NDA had announced Radhakrishnan as their candidate for the Vice-Presidential election. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Radhakrishnan, highlighting his dedication, humility, and focus on community service. Radhakrishnan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation. Prior to this role, Radhakrishnan served as the Governor of Maharashtra and held additional charges as Governor of Jharkhand and Telangana. He was also the BJP’s Tamil Nadu state president from 2004 to 2007 and has been involved with the RSS and Jan Sangh since the age of 16. He previously won Lok Sabha elections from the Coimbatore constituency in 1998 and 1999.
