Cuttack, Odisha, is under a 36-hour curfew and faces an internet ban following a series of violent incidents. The measures, effective from Sunday evening, were implemented after clashes during a Durga idol immersion procession and subsequent confrontations. Police reported a violent altercation with an organization denied permission for a bike rally, resulting in injuries to eight officers. Initial clashes erupted late Friday night in the Dargha Bazaar area during the idol immersion, sparked by objections to loud music. The altercation escalated, with stones and bottles hurled from rooftops, injuring several, including the Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police.
