In a fiery outburst, Delhi BJP president Virender Sachdeva accused AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj of belittling former President Ram Nath Kovind and current President Droupadi Murmu, thereby insulting Dalit and Adivasi communities. The controversy erupted over Bharadwaj’s press conference where he critiqued NDA’s presidential picks.

Sachdeva, addressing the media, labeled the remarks as ‘unforgivable’ and a blatant disrespect to the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar. He specifically took umbrage at Bharadwaj’s quip implying that Kovind and Murmu were chosen to appear ‘inferior’ to other leaders, calling it a low blow driven by political desperation.

‘When Kovind ji from Dalit roots and Murmu ji from tribal background ascended to Rashtrapati Bhavan, it was a moment of glory for millions,’ Sachdeva said passionately. He held Arvind Kejriwal accountable, insisting the AAP chief issue a public apology and remove Bharadwaj from all party roles to salvage any credibility.

The spat comes amid Bharadwaj’s parallel criticism of BJP’s internal dynamics. On X, he alleged that new Delhi BJP chief Nitin Nabain is a ‘nominal figurehead,’ controlled entirely by higher-ups, with real power vested in one individual. Nabain’s induction ceremony, attended by top BJP brass including Modi, Shah, and Nadda, painted a picture of party unity contrasting AAP’s narrative.

This political showdown highlights contrasting visions: BJP celebrates its track record on social justice through high-profile elevations, while AAP questions power structures. As Delhi braces for electoral battles, such rhetoric could sway key voter blocs, particularly SC-ST communities whose pride BJP vows to uphold. Sachdeva’s call for accountability sets the stage for AAP’s response, potentially escalating tensions further.
