Weeks before a deadly car bombing near Delhi’s Red Fort, a key suspect, Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather, urgently sought an advance on his salary, according to retrieved WhatsApp conversations. Investigators are now scrutinizing these messages, believing the funds Adeel desperately needed might have been channeled into financing the terror attack. Adeel, who had recently moved to a hospital in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, in March 2025, was reportedly in dire financial straits despite his medical position. The deleted messages, recovered post-arrest, show a pattern of repeated pleas for his salary to be paid early. These conversations, spanning from September 5th to 9th, depict a growing sense of distress as Adeel insisted on his immediate need for money. He repeatedly requested the advance be transferred to his account. Investigators are actively examining the potential link between Adeel’s financial desperation and his alleged role in the blast. Reports suggest that out of the significant sum reportedly used in the explosion, Adeel may have contributed a substantial portion. Another accused reportedly identified Adeel as the group’s treasurer, adding weight to the theory that his pursuit of funds was directly tied to the conspiracy.
