The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Delhi, after 27 years, successfully passed its first bill in the Delhi Assembly on Friday. Following the passage of the Fee Regulation Bill, Delhi’s Education Minister, Ashish Sood, stated that the bill would end the exploitation of parents and prevent the inappropriate detention of students in libraries. The bill aims to stop the coercive collection of fees and bring an end to arbitrary fee practices.

On Friday, the Delhi government passed a crucial bill, the Delhi School Education Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees Bill 2025, aimed at regulating fee hikes in private schools. The bill was debated in the assembly for approximately 4 hours. 41 BJP MLAs voted in favor of the bill, while 17 AAP MLAs opposed it.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated in the Delhi Assembly that the bill would not only curb the arbitrary practices of private schools but also establish a new foundation of transparency, justice, and accountability in the education system. She further added that the bill would bring transparency to the education system and build trust among the public.
