Following just an hour of rainfall, significant portions of New Delhi experienced severe waterlogging, leading to traffic disruptions and stranded residents. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj and Leader of Opposition in the MCD House, Ankush Narang, took to social media to criticize the BJP-led administration. They shared images and videos of flooded streets, accusing the government of failing to address the city’s vulnerability to heavy rains.
Bharadwaj highlighted the situation in Lutyens’ Delhi, near the official residence of the PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Parvesh Verma, as a prime example of the administration’s shortcomings. He directly questioned the preparedness claims made by BJP officials, including Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and PWD Minister Parvesh Verma. Narang, in his posts, mocked the BJP’s promises of a pleasant monsoon season, pointing out that the city’s streets had become inundated, effectively turning them into swimming pools.
The AAP leaders collectively slammed the BJP, citing the performance of the Delhi government, MCD, central government, and the Lieutenant Governor. They said that the city’s issues with waterlogging proved that their promises were not backed by action.
