The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a stern warning to Air India following breaches of flight time regulations on the Bangalore-London route. In a letter dated August 11, the DGCA expressed concern over violations of duty time limits. The warning comes after the regulator discovered that two London-bound flights from Bangalore exceeded the 10-hour duty time limit in May. The flights, AI133, operated on May 16 and 17, 2025, exceeded the stipulated maximum flight time as per Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) guidelines. The DGCA found Air India’s explanation for the extended flight durations unsatisfactory, noting non-compliance with key operational provisions by the Accountable Manager. A Show Cause Notice was issued on June 20, 2025, and Air India’s response was deemed insufficient. The Accountable Manager has been advised to ensure strict adherence to civil aviation requirements.
