Mahendra Prasad, the manager of a guest house at the DRDO’s Chandan Firing Range in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, has been arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan’s ISI. Prasad was stationed as the guest house manager near the Chandan Field Firing Range. He is accused of transmitting confidential and strategic information about the country to Pakistan. His arrest was carried out by the CID Intelligence of Rajasthan.

The guest house manager is alleged to have been in constant contact with Pakistani intelligence agents. Furthermore, he was leaking sensitive information related to India’s defense activities.

Security agencies across the country are operating on high alert in the lead-up to Independence Day. With this backdrop of heightened vigilance, intelligence gathering and surveillance were intensified, leading to this breakthrough for the security agencies.

Investigation revealed that Prasad, originally from Palyun, Almora, Uttarakhand, came into contact with Pakistani intelligence through social media.

He was reportedly providing information to his handlers about the activities of DRDO scientists and Indian Army officers who visit the Chandan Field Firing Range for missile and weapon testing. This facility in Jaisalmer is a crucial site for testing strategic defense equipment.

Following his detention, Prasad underwent joint interrogation by security agencies, and a thorough technical examination of his mobile phone was conducted. The investigation revealed that he shared details of several DRDO operations and activities related to the Indian Army with his Pakistani handler. Based on the evidence, CID Intelligence arrested Mahendra Prasad on charges of espionage. Authorities are now assessing the severity of the security breach and investigating whether others were involved in this information network.
