EAM Jaishankar Embarks on European Tour: France, Belgium, and EU Discussions Planned

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to visit France and Belgium from June 8th to 14th. The primary objectives of the trip include strengthening bilateral ties with both nations and the European Union (EU), and highlighting India’s steadfast stance against terrorism. During his visit, Jaishankar will engage in discussions with his French and Belgian counterparts. A key element of the trip will be the inaugural ministerial strategic dialogue with EU Foreign and Security Policy Chief Kaja Kallas. In France, Jaishankar will meet with French Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barrot in Paris and Marseille. He will also participate in the Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue in Marseille and interact with French think tanks. These meetings will allow Jaishankar to brief interlocutors on India’s actions against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories. The visit coincides with the 25th anniversary of the strategic partnership between India and France, characterized by strong cooperation in various domains. In Brussels, Jaishankar will engage with the EU leadership, including the European Commission and Parliament. The visit is expected to deepen India’s relationships and foster ongoing collaboration across a range of areas.
