The Election Commission of India (ECI) held a press conference to discuss the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar announced that the elections are likely to be conducted before the state assembly dissolves on November 22. The ECI is implementing 100% webcasting to ensure transparency. Kumar highlighted the efforts to refine the voter list, praising the booth-level officers. Each polling station will have approximately 1,200 voters. The ECI will accept Aadhaar cards for inclusion in voter lists, clarifying it is not a form of citizenship. Candidates’ photographs on election documents will be in color for improved voter identification. Postal ballots will be counted before the final two rounds of EVM counting. Digital index cards will be available shortly after the election concludes. Identity cards for booth-level officials will be introduced. Mobile phones can be deposited outside the booth. The serial number font on ballot papers will be larger, and candidate photos will be in color. The Bihar Legislative Assembly has 243 constituencies. The CEC urged voters to participate with enthusiasm, treating the elections as a festival of democracy.
