Political temperatures are soaring in West Bengal following a brutal attack on the Farakka BDO office. The BJP has escalated its offensive, seeking central paramilitary deployment for an impartial investigation into the mayhem.

What began as a routine grievance meeting spiraled into anarchy. Enraged villagers allegedly pelted stones, smashed windows, and ransacked files, leaving the office in ruins. At least five employees suffered injuries, with two requiring hospitalization.

BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar led the charge against the state government. ‘TMC’s goons are running amok. Only central forces can deliver justice through a thorough SIR,’ he thundered, flanked by party workers protesting outside the damaged office.

The incident underscores chronic discontent in Farakka, a region plagued by flood-related woes and inadequate infrastructure. Protesters claim their pleas for relief fell on deaf ears, fueling the outburst.

TMC dismissed the allegations as BJP’s election ploy. ‘We managed the situation swiftly; BJP is exploiting tragedy for votes,’ retorted a party spokesperson, announcing relief packages for affected families.

Videos of the violence have gone viral, amplifying public outrage and partisan divides. Civil society groups demand accountability from all sides, warning against further polarization.

With by-elections looming, this episode could reshape local alliances. The BJP’s push for central forces tests the limits of federalism, potentially drawing Delhi’s scrutiny on Bengal’s law and order.

Authorities have filed FIRs and promised strict action, but skepticism lingers amid accusations of political protection. Farakka remains on edge as the dust settles.
