Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, is facing mounting legal troubles, with cases registered against him in two states within a 24-hour period. The charges stem from a social media post that allegedly contained objectionable content targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Yadav shared a cartoon depicting Modi’s Gaya rally as a ‘shop of rhetoric,’ leading to the filing of cases in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The case in Maharashtra was initiated following a complaint from BJP MLA from Gadchiroli, Milind Ramji Narote. He alleged that Yadav shared an offensive and insulting post against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Gadchiroli police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. These developments could escalate Yadav’s legal challenges.

In Uttar Pradesh, a case was filed in the Sadar Bazar police station, Shahjahanpur, based on a complaint from the BJP’s city president, Shilpi Gupta. Gupta stated that Yadav’s disrespectful comments against the Prime Minister have caused widespread anger across the country, urging the police to take strict action against him.

The controversial post shared by Yadav featured a cartoon that described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gaya rally as a ‘shop of rhetoric.’ The post, shared on X (formerly Twitter) before the rally, depicted the Prime Minister as a shopkeeper with a sign that read, ‘Famous shop of rhetoric.’ Accompanying the image, Yadav demanded that Modi account for his 11 years in power and the NDA government’s 20 years.

Yadav’s post stated that a ‘shop of lies and rhetoric’ would be set up in Gaya. He further criticized the Prime Minister, stating that the people of Bihar would dismantle the ‘mountains of lies and rhetoric.’ The post also demanded an account of the Modi government’s tenure.

Prime Minister Modi, during the Gaya rally, had sharply criticized the RJD, referring to the ‘lantern rule’ and the region’s difficult past.
