The long-delayed Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) expressway project is showing signs of life after a 13-year standstill, promising improved intercity connectivity. The Noida Authority and the Public Works Department (PWD) have recently renewed discussions to revitalize the project. The FNG expressway spans 56 kilometers, with Noida managing 23 kilometers. Discussions have centered on amending the implementation plan. A new Detailed Project Report (DPR) proposes three alignments for the unfinished sections, with surveys completed and awaiting departmental approval. A key feature of the renewed plan is a six-lane bridge over the Yamuna River, connecting Noida and Faridabad, estimated to cost around Rs 200 crore, with shared funding from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Infrastructure development in Noida includes plans for an elevated road and two underpasses. The project is expected to benefit over 30 sectors and more than 1,000 industries, addressing NCR traffic challenges by providing better connectivity.
