Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that India’s logistics costs have decreased by six percent, down from 16%, crediting the improvement to enhanced road infrastructure under the Narendra Modi-led NDA government. He highlighted the importance of infrastructure development in achieving the vision of making India a ‘Vishwa Guru’ and the world’s third-largest economy, targeting a 5 trillion dollar economy. Gadkari emphasized that lower logistics costs will boost exports and competitiveness across agricultural, service, and industrial sectors. He noted that high logistics costs were previously a major hurdle compared to countries like China and the US. The Minister expects further reductions in logistics costs to 9% by next year, with Indian road infrastructure soon matching that of the US.
