The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is currently constructing a 380 km long Greenfield Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, adhering to the Green Highways Policy. This Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway will significantly enhance the state’s road infrastructure, linking Noida, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur. Upon completion, the travel time between these key industrial cities is projected to be reduced to approximately five hours.

The expressway, spanning 380 km, will traverse nine districts within Uttar Pradesh. Initially designed as a four-lane road, it has the potential for expansion to six lanes in the future, accommodating anticipated increases in traffic volume. The project prioritizes environmental sustainability and is targeted for completion by 2026.

The route will pass through the districts of Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao, and Kanpur.

NHAI is considering an extension of the expressway to Jewar Airport in Noida to further improve regional connectivity. Its southern end will connect to the 62.7 km long Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway, while the northern end will link with National Highway 9. This expressway is expected to reduce the travel time between Ghaziabad and Kanpur by about three hours.

This project is poised to stimulate regional trade, simultaneously alleviating pressure on existing highways. The modern route connecting Noida, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur will provide substantial benefits to local businesses, transport companies, daily commuters, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the state.
