Security forces turned Godhra railway station into a fortress on Sunday, a day after a mysterious blast rocked a rail track near Punjab’s Sarhind station. This precautionary sweep in Panchmahal district was part of a broader nationwide push to secure vital transit hubs.

Kicking off at noon, the intensive search lasted an hour, orchestrated by GRP and RPF brass. Bomb squads and explosive-detecting dogs fanned out across platforms, lounges, traffic zones, yards, baggage areas, and track vicinities, leaving no stone unturned.

“The goal was clear: neutralize any lurking dangers before they could harm passengers,” a senior officer stated. The all-clear was sounded after thorough inspections yielded zero suspicious findings.

Yet, the alert status persists, with plans for ongoing drills. This comes in the wake of Friday’s 9:50 PM detonation in Khanpur village, which mangled a freight track section. A passing goods train’s locomotive jumped rails, scraping the driver lightly—no further injuries ensued.

Echoing the incident’s shockwaves, India’s railway network has amplified monitoring at major junctions, prioritizing passenger safety and operational continuity in an era of heightened threats.
