Rewari police have apprehended a woman and a broker for their involvement in a marriage scam. The victim, identified as Jaldeep, a Rewari resident, reported the incident. Jaldeep stated that he was introduced to broker Sohal, who facilitated a meeting with a woman named Pooja from Ambedkar district, UP. Jaldeep paid 2 lakh rupees for what was described as a temple ritual. On June 4th, he brought the woman to his village in Rewari. On the night of June 5th, the woman absconded with jewelry and cash. An investigation revealed that ‘Pooja’s’ real name is Kaushalya, a married woman and mother of four. The individual presented as her brother, Rahul, was actually her boyfriend, Rakesh. Kaushalya also hired individuals to pose as her parents. It was further discovered that Kaushalya had previously been arrested in a similar case in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, in 2024, and was out on bail. The accused have been presented in court and are now under a 2-day police remand for further investigation.
