The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for extremely heavy rainfall (≥21 cm) across multiple regions this week. Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh are specifically highlighted as areas likely to experience the most severe conditions. The IMD has issued a “Red Colour Warning” to indicate the anticipated dangerous weather, although this does not constitute a “Red Alert.”

Very heavy rainfall is expected in select locations within Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Kerala on July 18. Simultaneously, heavy rainfall is predicted for Rajasthan and South Interior Karnataka on the same day. Kerala is also forecast to receive torrential rain on July 19 and 20.

Heavy to very heavy rains are anticipated in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh from July 18 to 23. Rainfall intensity is expected to be particularly high in Uttarakhand between July 18 and 20, and again from July 23.

The weather patterns will also be active in East and Central India, with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms likely in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Continuous rainfall is also expected along parts of the Konkan coast, Goa, and Maharashtra. Strong winds, with speeds reaching 40–50 kmph, are probable over peninsular areas of South India during the next five days.
