The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather update predicting continued heavy rainfall in northeastern states and Maharashtra over the next two to three days. Conditions are favorable for the further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, and Gujarat within the next two days. The current withdrawal line of the southwest monsoon extends through Sri Ganganagar, Nagaur, Jodhpur, and Barmer.

Upper air cyclonic circulation in areas such as central Assam, east Bihar, and the southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to influence weather patterns across northeastern, central, and south peninsular states. The forecast for Tuesday, September 16, indicates light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. South Peninsular India can anticipate light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Karnataka until September 17. Strong surface winds are likely in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema for the next five days. Light to moderate rain is expected in West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, and Bihar on September 16. Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra will also experience rainfall on Tuesday. Northwest India is forecast to have moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Uttar Pradesh.
