The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and red alerts across numerous states due to ongoing heavy rainfall, which has caused significant traffic disruptions. Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, experienced fresh rainfall, while severe waterlogging was reported in parts of Nagpur, Maharashtra, following continuous downpours. The IMD predicts an active monsoon over Central India for the next four to five days.
Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Madhya Pradesh from July 9 to 14. Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh are also expected to receive heavy rainfall on July 9 and 10. West Bengal and Jharkhand will experience heavy rainfall on July 9, while Odisha is forecast to be hit on July 9, 13, and 14. Additional regions affected include Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, West Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, and East Rajasthan.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Nagpur has issued a warning of moderate flash floods in several watershed areas and nearby communities over the next few hours. Gondia, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Amravati, Bhandara, and Chandrapur are likely to be affected. The incessant showers have also severely impacted agricultural lands, resulting in crop damage.
Torrential rains are expected in Konkan, Goa, the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra, Kutch, and the Gujarat region over the next 24 hours. Northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh, are advised to closely monitor the IMD’s weather updates due to the forecast of heavy rainfall from July 9 to 14.
