BJP chief ministers are jubilant over the India-US trade breakthrough that reduces tariffs to 18 percent, praising it as a game-changer for bilateral relations and India’s export ambitions. This accord, forged under PM Narendra Modi’s stewardship, is being touted as a new chapter in friendship between the two nations.

‘It’s an epoch-making moment for our economic partnership,’ declared UP CM Yogi Adityanath on social media. He credited the deal with propelling ‘Make in India’ forward, enhancing market access for Indian products and spawning opportunities for young talent and small businesses. Adityanath thanked Modi for his firm leadership in fortifying these ties.

Echoing similar sentiments, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta pointed to Modi’s telephonic dialogue with President Trump as the catalyst. ‘This tariff reduction will inject fresh momentum into our exports, underscoring India’s strengthening global bonds and economic power,’ she observed.

In Maharashtra, CM Devendra Fadnavis labeled the agreement historic, attributing it to the personal rapport between Modi and Trump. ‘India now enjoys preferential tariff rates from a top export economy like the US, heralding a new era of friendship and immense benefits for businesses,’ he wrote on X. The state, he added, anticipates surges in investments across cutting-edge sectors like AI and data infrastructure.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma extended heartfelt appreciation from his state’s people for Modi’s leadership. ‘A crucial milestone today, as ‘Made in India’ gains a broader global platform, benefiting our youth, farmers, and MSMEs,’ he said, noting its role in deepening collaboration for global peace and prosperity.

Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed the progress as a bedrock for deeper cooperation and mutual growth. ‘Slashing tariffs to 18 percent supercharges Indian manufacturing, MSMEs, exporters, and job creation while expanding markets for startups,’ Majhi said, lauding Modi’s efforts in elevating India-US relations.
