The Indian Army has launched Operation SHIVA 2025 to enhance the safety and security of pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra. This operation, conducted in close collaboration with civil administration and CAPFs, is designed to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage. The operation’s focus is heightened due to increased security threats following Operation Sindoor, aiming to establish a robust security framework along both the Northern and Southern Yatra routes. Over 8,500 troops are deployed, supported by advanced technological resources. Key elements include a counter-UAS grid, regular UAV surveillance, engineer task forces, comprehensive medical support, robust communication systems, emergency provisions, and standby helicopter support. Live tracking of Yatra convoys and constant situational awareness are maintained using cutting-edge technology, enabling swift multi-agency coordination for effective security management.
