External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that no phone calls occurred between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi from April 22 to June 16. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, he emphasized India’s stance on bilateral dialogue with Pakistan, rejecting any mediation. Jaishankar also criticized the Congress party regarding their handling of the Indus Water Treaty, highlighting what he called their ‘mistakes’ and emphasizing the treaty’s importance. He further targeted Jawaharlal Nehru’s remarks on the treaty made in 1960, alleging that the former PM prioritized Pakistani interests over those of Indian farmers. Jaishankar claimed that PM Modi had corrected Nehru’s errors concerning the Indus Water Treaty and Article 370.
