5-Year-Old Girl Raped After Being Lured with Mangoes at Wedding, Assailant Beaten by Locals

A shocking incident has come to light in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, where a 5-year-old girl was subjected to rape. The victim had attended a wedding ceremony. The perpetrator lured the child to a secluded garden under the pretext of offering her mangoes, where the crime was committed. The incident came to light when the blood-soaked girl returned home, crying. Her parents immediately understood what had happened and rushed her to the Chanho CSC for medical attention. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later referred to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi. Following the incident, enraged locals apprehended the accused, identified as Karmdev Uraon, and severely beat him. Police arrived at the scene and rescued the suspect from the crowd, taking him to the Chanho police station. A case has been registered against him under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections based on the family’s complaint. According to reports, the incident occurred in a village under the Chanho police station area, approximately 30 kilometers from Ranchi, where a wedding party was held. The accused, Karmdev Uraon, aged 25, had lured the child, who was with her family at the wedding, to a remote garden by offering her mangoes. It is alleged that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime.
