Babita Singh, hailing from the Paharia community in Jharkhand, has achieved a remarkable feat. The daughter of Bindulal Singh from Asonasol village in Dumka district secured the 337th rank in the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Competitive Examination 2023, conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). Her success story is a testament to her perseverance, especially considering her family’s financial struggles; they couldn’t afford sweets to celebrate her achievement, and instead, her mother offered her sugar to sweeten the occasion. Babita is likely the first from her community to become a JPSC officer. She is the eldest of four siblings, completing her education in Dumka. Despite facing family pressure for marriage, she chose to pursue her dreams. Through self-study and online resources, she dedicated herself to 5-6 hours of study daily, ultimately cracking the exam. Her achievement serves as a source of inspiration, especially within the Paharia community, which faces educational challenges. The JPSC Civil Services Examination 2023 results were announced on July 25, with 342 candidates declared successful.
