A meeting of the cabinet discussed the declaration of the world-famous Saranda region in the West Singhbhum district as a Wildlife Sanctuary. The cabinet has formed a Group of Ministers to make a decision on this matter and provide recommendations to the government. Based on these recommendations, the state government will make its final decision. The Group of Ministers will conduct a study on the economic and social aspects of the region and submit its report to the state government. Additionally, all relevant departments and stakeholders will provide their opinions. This information will then be presented to the cabinet for further action. The plan is to conserve 575.19 square kilometers of the Saranda Wildlife Sanctuary area, incorporating villages like Ankuwa, Samta, Karampada, Gudlibag, Trikoshi, and Thalkuwad in West Singhbhum district as part of the sanctuary.
