In Ranchi, Jharkhand’s Finance Minister, Radhakrishna Kishore, presented the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report in the assembly on the second day of the monsoon session. The report disclosed outstanding dues in the state’s revenue collection, raising concerns for the government. According to the report, as of March 31, 2024, the outstanding amount in revenue collection was ₹84.72 crore, of which ₹38.91 crore was outstanding for more than five years. Out of the total outstanding amount in the Excise and Prohibition Department, ₹7.72 crore was held up in courts and other appellate authorities. Revenue receipts during the fiscal year 2023-24 increased by 9.57 percent compared to the previous year, but were 10.58 percent less than the budget estimates. Revenue expenditure increased by 14.99 percent, but it was ₹7,999.58 crore less than the budget estimates. During this period, there was a revenue surplus of ₹11,252.08 crore. During the fiscal year 2023-24, the state received ₹165.63 crore in Goods and Services Tax (GST) compensation as revenue receipts. Meanwhile, there was an uproar in the house over the supplementary budget brought by the state government. BJP MLAs Satyendra Nath Tiwari and Raj Sinha proposed a cut motion. Raj Sinha demanded a cut of ₹10 in the supplementary budget, which was rejected by the Speaker of the Assembly. Following this, Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato adjourned the proceedings of the House until 2 pm due to the uproar from the opposition. Earlier, during the monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly, the proceedings of the House resumed at 12.30 pm on Monday. As soon as the proceedings of the House began, the opposition members again created a ruckus in the well regarding the encounter of Surya Hansda. Members of the ruling party also came into the well.
