The Chief Minister announced that significant changes are coming soon to the Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS). The infrastructure and educational systems at RINPAS will be strengthened. A thorough review of existing shortcomings will be conducted to address them. The state government will take all necessary steps to ensure that mental patients receive better facilities and modern treatment. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the centenary year celebrations marking 100 years of RINPAS. The Chief Minister congratulated and extended best wishes to everyone associated with RINPAS on the completion of its glorious 100 years of service, dedication, and trust. He emphasized the increasing importance of institutions like RINPAS, given the rising prevalence of mental health issues. Providing better counseling and treatment is crucial, the Chief Minister noted, even though no one wishes to require the services of such an institution. He added that the government aims to improve treatment facilities. The Chief Minister stressed the need for increased use of modern technologies in treating people facing mental health problems. Digital medical technology required to address the mental health issues of patients at RINPAS will be provided. The Chief Minister expressed concern that some families abandon patients at the institute, while others confine mentally ill individuals at home. He emphasized the need for easy access to mental health services for those in need. The Chief Minister reflected on the foresight of the institute’s founders in establishing it in 1925. He acknowledged the institute’s 100 years of dedicated service and pledged to enhance it further. The celebrations included the release of a postal stamp on RINPAS, the unveiling of a souvenir and four books, the launch of tele-mental health video conferencing, and the start of a digital academy. Several individuals were honored for their contributions, including retired directors and faculty members. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the Union Minister of State for Defence, the Health Minister, and other officials.
