Cyber Criminals Target Jharkhand Officials: Fake Profile Created in IAS Officer’s Name

Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting officials in Jharkhand. A recent incident involved the creation of a fake Facebook profile in the name of IAS officer Manjunath Bhajantri, the Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi. The fraudulent profile, which used Bhajantri’s photo, sent friend requests to over 2,000 people. The district administration issued a press release to alert the public about the fake account and advised against accepting friend requests, warning that the profile was likely being used for fraud. Authorities have initiated strict action, including an FIR and a thorough investigation by the cyber crime unit. This incident follows a similar case where a fake profile was created in the name of Jharkhand’s DGP, Anurag Gupta.
