A crucial district-level meeting was held to devise strategies for preventing drug trafficking and cultivation. Presided over by Deputy Commissioner Ramnivas Yadav, the NCORD (Narcotics Coordination) committee convened to address the persistent issue of illegal narcotics within the region. Discussions focused on implementing effective measures to curb the supply and demand of illicit substances. Members were given clear directives to foster inter-departmental coordination and collaboration to tackle this growing concern.

The meeting delved into various facets of the drug problem, including addiction rates, identified hotspots for drug use and trafficking, and the specific actions taken by relevant departments. Emphasis was placed on a unified approach to combat the misuse of intoxicating drugs and the illicit trade of narcotics. Officials were instructed to maintain vigilance regarding the sale, consumption, and trafficking of illegal substances. Furthermore, a strong directive was issued to promptly identify and take stringent legal action against individuals involved in opium cultivation, ensuring the destruction of crops and prosecution of perpetrators.
The Deputy Commissioner also specifically tasked the Drug Inspector with maintaining accurate records of all narcotic-containing medicines. A mandatory requirement for verifying doctor’s prescriptions before dispensing such medications was reinforced. Additionally, strict action against quack doctors was ordered to prevent the unregulated distribution of potentially harmful drugs.
