In the Barmer district of Rajasthan, on September 21st, a distressing scene unfolded. At approximately 10 AM, cries were heard emanating from a house in the Undu village, within the Shiv police station area. Upon investigation, local residents discovered a young man’s lifeless body. His girlfriend, overwhelmed with grief, was found clinging to the body, weeping and expressing her anguish. She questioned his actions, lamenting why he had left her and pleading for him to wake up. The heartbreaking scene moved everyone present.
The deceased was identified as Shaukat Khan, aged 22. The grieving girlfriend, who was 19 years old, was inconsolable. Shaukat’s brother, Jumma Khan, arrived at the scene, overcome with grief. The police were immediately notified. Upon arrival, they took possession of Shaukat’s body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
The police began their investigation. The girlfriend explained that she was preparing food in the kitchen when she went to call Shaukat, only to find the door locked from the inside. Peering through the window, she saw Shaukat hanging. She immediately contacted Shaukat’s brother to inform him of the situation. She was unaware of the reasons behind Shaukat’s decision to end his life.
Shaukat’s girlfriend is from Jharkhand. Jumma Khan revealed that he and Shaukat were furniture workers. Shaukat had brought his girlfriend to live with them some time ago. She had been residing with them ever since. Everything seemed fine, and Shaukat would typically confide in him if he had any concerns. Jumma Khan was informed of Shaukat’s death by his girlfriend.
Local residents mentioned that the girlfriend’s family had visited around 10 days prior to take her back. However, she had refused to leave Shaukat, and her family had departed. SI Jalaram of Shiv police station stated that Shaukat Khan, a resident of Sangad Ola village, resided with his girlfriend and his elder brother Jumma Khan in a rented house in Undu village. The case is under investigation, and they are trying to determine the reasons behind the apparent suicide.
