IHM Ranchi has celebrated the foundation stone laying ceremony for significant expansion projects, including a new auditorium and executive development center, along with the expansion of its girls’ hostel. The event was graced by the presence of state ministers Shilpi Neha Tirkey and Sudivyav Kumar Sonu. Minister Tirkey, who also holds the portfolio for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperation, took the opportunity to propose the development of Mandar College into a Small Nagpur Studies and Research Center. She highlighted the consistent academic excellence of Mandar’s youth, citing their achievements in various examinations, including topping school and university levels and succeeding in the JPSC exams. Minister Tirkey emphasized the need for the Higher and Technical Education Department to seriously consider this proposal, acknowledging the unique cultural identity of Southern Chotanagpur. She also noted that by associating with IHM, young individuals are acquiring valuable skills. Minister Tirkey stressed that social, cultural, and educational development are crucial for transforming Jharkhand into ‘Sonanjharhand’.
Minister Sudivyav Kumar Sonu, overseeing Tourism, Art-Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs, described Jharkhand as a state with a distinct personality, characterized by its unique culture, dialects, and languages. He expressed satisfaction that the youth today understand and feel the spirit of the state, formed after a long struggle. He observed that previously, careers in hospitality were not widely considered, but institutions like IHM are changing this perception. Minister Sonu underscored the importance of providing local employment opportunities for the state’s youth. He assured that the Tourism Department would actively support IHM’s growth, reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting tourism through robust action plans. Several dignitaries and local representatives were present at the ceremony.
