A serious accusation has been leveled against the Jharkhand state government, alleging a systematic effort to conceal criminal activities. Opposition leader Babulal Marandi claims the administration is fabricating new offenses to hide existing ones, particularly in the coal sector. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions in the Dhanbad coal mafia’s alleged illegal operations have unearthed disturbing evidence. Reports suggest that certain high-ranking police officials, allegedly benefiting from illicit coal earnings, have provided targets to eliminate low-level enforcers of the coal mafia. This alleged directive is reportedly aimed at silencing individuals being questioned by the ED, thereby preventing the truth from surfacing. Marandi expressed concern, stating that the state has a history of “encountering evidence” under the guise of apprehending criminals. He referenced a past Director General of Police (DGP) accused of orchestrating killings for hire and amassing unprecedented corruption, with even ruling party members highlighting these allegations. The opposition leader urged the ED to exercise extreme caution, warning that in Jharkhand, those who suppress the truth often thrive, while truth-tellers face peril. He concluded that when political power, administrative systems, and criminal elements align, the subversion of justice becomes a mere formality.
