Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president and leader of the opposition, Babulal Marandi, has leveled serious accusations against the Jharkhand government, alleging a deliberate effort to conceal criminal activities. Marandi stated that the state and its systems have developed a disturbing habit of inventing new crimes to cover up existing ones. Recent actions by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the coal mafia’s domain in Dhanbad have brought forth startling evidence. Most alarmingly, it is reported that certain high-ranking police officials, who have benefited financially from illegal coal trade, have issued directives to eliminate key associates of coal mafiosi permanently. This alleged directive aims to prevent the exposure of illicit dealings.
Information suggests that individuals being interrogated by the ED are now targets of assassination plots designed to stifle the truth from emerging. Marandi recalled past instances in Jharkhand where “encounter killings” were orchestrated under the guise of apprehending criminals, effectively destroying evidence. He pointed to a former Director General of Police (DGP) previously accused of orchestrating contract killings and engaging in rampant corruption, with allegations even coming from within the ruling party itself. He emphasized that the ED must exercise extreme caution in Jharkhand, where suppressing truth, rather than speaking it, often prevails. When power, the system, and criminal elements align, the subversion of justice becomes a mere formality.
