Most alarmingly, it is alleged that certain high-ranking police officials, benefiting financially from illicit coal dealings, have issued directives to eliminate key operatives of coal mafias permanently. This strategy aims to silence those who could expose the truth. Information suggests that individuals currently under ED interrogation are being targeted for assassination to prevent them from revealing incriminating details. This echoes a dangerous precedent in the state where ‘encounter killings’ have been used to eliminate evidence under the guise of apprehending criminals. Jharkhand has previously witnessed a Director General of Police accused of orchestrating contract killings and setting new benchmarks for corruption. Even members of the ruling party have reportedly voiced concerns about such alleged malpractices. The ED is urged to exercise extreme caution, as the state operates under a system where truth-tellers are suppressed, and those who bury facts wield power.
