Jharkhand Govt Accused of Fabricating Crimes to Hide Offenses

A serious accusation has been leveled against the Jharkhand government by BJP State President and Leader of Opposition, Babulal Marandi. He alleges that the state administration is creating new crimes to conceal existing ones, suggesting a disturbing pattern of systemic evasion. This claim follows recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions in Dhanbad’s coal sector, which have uncovered significant evidence of illicit activities. The most alarming revelation is the alleged directive from certain ‘top police officials,’ allegedly benefiting from the coal trade’s black money, to eliminate ground-level operatives of coal mafias permanently. This is reportedly being done to prevent them from revealing incriminating information to the ED. Marandi warns that plots are being hatched to murder individuals being questioned by the ED, ensuring that the truth remains buried. He draws a parallel to past instances in the state where ‘evidence encounters’ were orchestrated under the guise of apprehending criminals. Jharkhand has a history, Marandi points out, of having a Director General of Police (DGP) accused of contract killings and unprecedented corruption, allegations even made by ruling party members. He urges the ED to exercise extreme caution, stating that in this environment, those who suppress truth hold sway, not those who speak it. When power, the system, and criminal elements align, the suppression of justice becomes a mere formality.
