Jharkhand Govt Accused of Fabricating Crimes to Hide Records

A serious accusation has been leveled against the Jharkhand government, with opposition leader Babulal Marandi alleging that the administration is creating new crimes to conceal existing offenses. Marandi stated that the practice of fabricating incidents to hide underlying criminal activities has become a disturbing norm for the government and the state’s system. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions in the coal mafia’s domain in Dhanbad have unearthed alarming evidence. More critically, it is reported that certain high-ranking police officials, enriched by illicit coal earnings, have allegedly tasked coal mafia operatives with eliminating their own ground-level associates permanently. This shocking revelation suggests a concerted effort to silence individuals who could expose the truth. There are credible reports indicating that individuals being questioned by the ED are now targets for assassination, intended to prevent any incriminating information from surfacing. This tactic of staging ‘encounter killings’ of witnesses or suspects under the guise of apprehending criminals is not new to the state. Jharkhand has previously witnessed a Director General of Police accused of orchestrating contract killings and corruption, with allegations even from within the ruling party branding him the most corrupt and a criminal. The ED is urged to exercise extreme caution, as in this state, those who suppress the truth, not those who speak it, hold power. When political power, the administrative system, and criminal elements align, the perversion of justice becomes a mere formality.
